Tasting Notes: |
This Zinfandel is truly a wonderful example of what you have come to expect from Westside Paso Robles. The aroma of spice and berries followed by the flavors of dark cherries and rich raspberry jam hits your palette and then fades away with a smooth finish. |
Wine History: |
The 2004 growing season was a mild and prolonged season that allowed for a long hang time on the vines. The Zinfandel was Hand Harvested and then fermented with a "secret combination" of two yeast strains for added complexity. We decided to blend a syrah from the Santa Maria Valley that had an earthier flavor profile to help balance the big jam flavors from the Zinfandel, and it worked - WOW. At bottling the wine was not finned or filtered, to bring the rich fruity flavors forward. Enjoy! |
